Curtis Rypma
After clerking for the Honorable William B. Murphy at the Michigan Court of Appeals following his graduation from Valparaiso University School of Law (J.D. 1990; Delta Theta Phi), Curtis began his law practice with our firm over 35 years ago and has been a partner for over 25 years. His areas of expertise include business acquisition and commercial and business law, estate planning and collections. He also represents residential and commercial landlords.
Curtis represents various small to medium size, closely held companies in their business transactions, and has enjoyed long lasting, solid relationships over the years with a large diversity of clients.
He has a broad transactional practice that includes estate planning, corporate and business entity formation and advice, business contracts and transactions, business purchases and sales, succession planning, and commercial real estate matters.
Curtis has expertise in construction lien and collection cases. His keen ability to resolve disputes in a quick and cost efficient manner seems to keep debtors paying one (legal) way or the other.
A lifelong resident of the Grand Rapids area, Curtis received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Calvin College. While in law school, he served as the Executive Editor of Student Writing for the Valparaiso University Law Review and he currently serves on the Planning Commission for the Township of Tallmadge. Curtis and his wife Kim have three children. He loves boating, family events and sports (especially baseball).
